ACTING IN ACTON: A Class For Teens

10-week Course: Acting Technique & Scene Study for Teens

Monday afternoons from 2:30-4:00
September 19th -- December 5th (no class Oct 10 & 24)

at Acton-Boxborough High School, Acton, MA, Room 218

Co-taught by Southwick Studio's founder, Andrea Southwick and theatre professional, Janet Tyndall, this course is for high school students at all levels of experience who have an avid interest in learning the art of acting in a supportive and fun environment. There will be a scene presentation for family and friends on December 5th @ 7:30 p.m. The goals of this class include teaching students the essentials of acting:

• to listen

• to communicate

• to think on one's feet

• to work off of other actors

• to act in the moment

• to stay focused

• to find authenticity within a scene and within one's acting

• to create a character emotionally, psychologically and physically

• to learn physical and verbal skills

• to make good use of the stage

• to develop respect for the craft of acting
